General Questions
Where should we park?
Excellent question! Signposts (and Sam) will direct you to the orchard where the orderly parking of up to 100 cars is supervised.
No one wants the vintage Rolls-Royce sliding into a ditch.
Is the farm suitable for the young or infirm?
There’s no denying that, this being a working farm, it’s not ideal for wheelchairs. The ground is uneven in places with steep bits and steps here and there. Much like mountain goats, children don’t seem to have any issue with the rough terrain.
Could we arrange babysitters?
If you would like to kiss the little urchins goodnight while you relax, Sam and Felicity can recommend local babysitters for those staying in the area.
Is there a curfew?
Even chickens need some sleep! So in order to ensure some shut-eye on the farm, we ask guests to down tools at midnight. This gives everyone plenty of time to relocate their car or find their seat on the bus.
Can we bring in our own caterers?
You are very welcome to bring in caterers of your choice. However, if you would like some help in this area, Sam and Felicity can highly recommend some companies who are familiar with the venue. Please see our dedicated catering section below.
Is there a local taxi company?
This is not just any taxi company, this is Babs of Christow Cars and she knows the local lanes like the back of her hand. Booking is essential so please call her on 01647 252227
Can you stay at Windout Farm?
For those with a bent for the outdoors, we offer camping at the farm complete with loos and a shower block.
Alternatively, you can stay in The Old Pigsty which is a suspended ceiling double en suite with kitchenette overlooking our orchard. All included in wedding package hire.
Should we source our own tables and chairs?
Yes, we recommend South West Event Hire. www.southwesteventhire.co.uk
Can you recommend any local accommodation?
Absolutely! Please take a look at our accommodation section below.
Do you supply staff?
Only our security man and on site Barister. We wouldn’t mess with him.
When can we access the venue?
For weddings you can access the barn on Friday morning for decorating and titivating, but we will allow earlier access for marquee companies. We would ask that everything be packed up and tidied away by Monday afternoon but, being good natured, there is always flexibility if needed.
For other events we’ll allow sensible lead in periods for preparations.
